92 960 - another lifter noise question / transmission mount question

Hello -

I've read a number of posts on noisy lifters on the 900 series. I hoping that I can get a better understanding of what may be causing the following;

92 960 with 120K miles. Symptoms; Cold start - runs great no lifter noise. 30 seconds to a minute later the lifters make noise. 3 to 4 minutes later the noise stops - does not come back until the next cold start. What's confusing me is that I would expect (and I am no expert) that the lifters would make noise right away on a cold start??? I love working on the car and know that it is not ultra critical that I fix it but based on the symptoms I am not even sure where to start as the symptoms don't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Also, I just replaced the transmission mount and the auto shifter doesn't move as much as it used to on a hard brake or dead stop acceleration - but it does still move (enough where it gets your attention). Is it possible that replacing the motor mounts are the next step for a 100% cure?

Anyway - thanks folks!

Steve.
