I ordered a spring and a set of new keepers from IPD, free shipping, and should get them on Friday.
I now know exactly how to do this. Slowly! You guys will make a mechanic out of me yet :)
Besides, $8.11 is so MUCH better than having my car towed and paying someone else to do a simple job. I like the way these red blocks are put together. Nice and strong. I can understand a spring breaking after 35 years, 175K miles, and a lot of neglect.
I will post back here on Saturday or Sunday.
