center consol lighting? ( '82 242+T ) 200

Should there be lights behind the center consol control button items like the heat-intensity, defrost/floor/rec buttons and other items? In the dark these are not easy to see for me without turning on the dome-light. All my guages at the very top for turbo, bar, and electric-V, as well as my speedo-cluster are lit up just fine.
