What's in my car? (audio) 700 1988

Greetings. I'm trying to sort out my stereo. I have an '88 760 Turbo sedan. It has the SR/TP 7145 (I think) combo. Here's the deal. The front door speakers are 4 ohm single drivers. I think for bass, because when they work (intermitant) all they seem to add is bass (a fair amount of it actually). The back doors have 2-way co-axial 8 ohm!!! speakers (8 ohm!?!?!?). I know there is an amp under the dash on the drivers side, I've seen it, but it's so packed in there I can't see the connectors. Is this for the rear doors? The fronts? Is there another amp lurking somewhere? Are there any diagrams floating around out there that show the wiring coming out of the head unit? There's also a rogue plug (2 lead) coming out of the head unit that's not connected to anything, and I can't find anything in the dash that looks like it should plug into. Any clues? I'd love to replace the rear door speakers, as they don't seem to do much, but the 8 ohm thing is a problem (REALLY pisses me off when they do that). Oh, yes, all the speakers say Volvo on the magnets, so they should be origional... What have others done short of spending hundreds to completely replace the whole system?
TIA,
Mark
