I am thinking of trying green diamond tires and I have a few questions for those who have used them:
1) I am a little concerned about the fact that they are remanufactured. Are there quality issues related to this? Do tires vary from one to the next depending on the original tire they are made from? Is there some standard rating system for tires and where do these fall?
2) The ones sold in the states are only all-season variety in my size (195 65 R15). Are they as good in the snow as dedicated snow tires such as Nokian or Bridgestone Blizzak?
3) How do the tires compare to other good all season tires (I have been using Yokohama H4S, and like them a lot) during the summer months? Ride quality, noise, wear, handling? What is the speed rating?
4) I only drive about 5000 miles per year, so one set of tires could make a lot of sense - if they are great in the snow and in the summer.
5) If these tires are so good, why doesn't everyone have them?
Having said all of this, I just bought some steel rims to mount snow tires - but then I tought that, perhaps, I should sell the rims and buy green diamonds as I will need new summer tires anyway. I live in New York City, so the climate is not that cold - most of the time summer tires are fine- but I like being able to go anywhere in the snow if necessary.
Cheers,
Steve
