Need help diagnosing broken speedo 200 1993

Hello all,

I need help diagnosing the problem with a broken speedo and odometer on my 93 240?
The problem started out as intermittent at first.
Odometer would work intermittently and then after a few months the speedo and odometer died completely.

All the internal gears look good.

I suspect it mat be the drive motor or motor board problem?

What are the first few steps to diagnosing this problem?
