initial costs for 1984 gl 200

I just purchased an 84 gl wagon that was barely driven the past few years with a rebuilt engine and tranny (~50k mi now) for $400. I expect to invest around a grand for repairs, of which upon inspection it needs steering, brake, and wheel work besides other minor repairs like power windows, trunk lock, heating/ac doesnt make a sound when turned on (blower motor?), rust along frame of rear windows in the interior. The transmission mount needs to be replaced (strange)and there are oil and exhaust leaks. Since the car seems like a can of worms right now Id prefer to do as much of the work as possible to recoup on costs. Im tempted to change and flush all the fluids, replace filters, redo hoses with reinforced ones, check and clean fuses/other electrical, and get new front shocks at some point in the near future (something on the stiff side but responsive for the long term). Any suggestions?
