Steering box seal lower seal/shaft coupler 120-130 1965

Has anyone replaced just the lower seal without removing the box? Can the Pittman arm be removed with box in situ? I`ve seen the box and shaft out of cars, mine would require removing the left front brakeline to clear steering shaft.

In anyone`s experience, does replacing the steering shaft flexible coupler make any difference in feel. My steering is fairly tight, but at times I get the feeling it could be better. Front suspension is decent as the PO replaced the original steering components. Sure would like to stop the steering box leak though.

What`s the best way to handle the horn wire living in the steering shaft. Guess I need an extension wire to pull it back through shaft, but the hole at the distal end seems purty small.

Appreciation to all!
