Alternatives to the two-feul system for k-jet? 200 1982

Just wondering if anyone knows about or has heard of an alternative to using the pre-pump and Bosch main pump set found on most 240's. The reson I ask is that although I my sole car right is an 82 244, I fiendishly subscribe to every after market catalog I can get for free including Moss Motors, British Victoria, numerous racing catolags from grasroots motorsports, Jeg's and Summit. They have fuel pumps that cost a fraction of the the main pump we are supposed to use on our bricks. I'm guessing that the the pre-pump can be eliminated if a high output main is used in place of the Bosch main pump? Does this make any sense to peruse further? I'm having fuel deliveray problems because the main may have a worn check valve and I would like to kill two pumps with one stone sort to speak! My philosophy with my car has always been to upgrade and improve rather than merely replace.
