crank position sensor? where? 700

I've been having ongoing issues cranking my 86 740T after it's been off for 6 or more hours ... such as in the mornings, very often I have to crank it 4-6 times for it to turn over. However, recently I had an odd occurence where I turned the key just until I heard it catch and try to turn over and released it, and it started on the first crank, but idled very, very softly until I added a bit of pedal to get it to idle at around 1100. Someone recommended I check the crank position sensor, but I don't see anything that identifies just where it is, unless it is the same thing as the RPM sensor?

TIA!
