That pesky leaking oil pan! Help please 444-544 1964

Greetings:
I've replaced my oil pan gasket twice now on the b1800 motor in my 1964 PV544. The first time I gooped up the gasket with RTV. It leaked. So I replaced it again with just a thin smear of RTV and it leaks even worse. I'm very gently tightening the bolts in a star pattern to gently spread the load. I doubt I'm over-torquing the bolts as I'm using a 1/4' drive ratchet and not using the handle for leverage. It leaks in back, towards the flywheel (I don't think it is the rear main seal because if I remove the flywheel cover the flywheel is dry). Suggestions? When I last had the oil pan out I looked at it carefully for straightness and dimpled bolt holes from previous over-tightening. Help me please. It is leaking about one drop every three seconds with the motor warm. I can't drive it like this as it is a rolling toxic waste disaster. Thanks! John

What about some metal pieces to spead the load of the bolts kind of like from a Chevy 350 steel valve cover? Just an idea.
