Back-up Light Switch Question 200

Hi All, My back-up lights don't work so the first thing I checked was fuse, bulbs and ground.Couldn't get them to work so I pulled the Inhibitor/back-up switch off the shifter and took it apart.Cleaned years of junk out of it and noticed that it looked like there was something missing. There is a long arm that rides on a pivet pin with contacts but it looks like there was a ballbearing that makes contact with the cover plate missing.I thought I lost it because I couldn't find it.Is this true there should be a ballbearing there? 85 240ti B21 Auto Trans. Thanks in advance,Charlie
