Valve spring compressor 140-160

I agree with your logic, but I am on a shoestring budget. I really do not wish to replace 11 more springs. There was no rust on the broken spring, which was in three pieces, but then it was coated in oil anyway.
Today, I will check valve clearances at the rocker arm. Then I will investigate why #5 cylinder does not seem to fire. Then I will go on a 1 hour highway run to help clean the intake manifold which got very dirty from the prior problem.
There is a slight ping at throttle on, which could be timing, dirt in the cylinder (they are all black), or petrol burning too soon (at least 6 months old). But this is the fun part! At least the engine runs!
Thanks Paul,

Klaus
