82 242 Turbo woes. 200 1982

I've recently purchased a pair of 240's one being a 1982 Turbo, with the factory intercooler kit installed.

I paid $500 for this car, it has new KYB adjustable struts, IPD sway bars, group A spoiler, lowering springs, and 4 straight Virgos.

The car has been sitting for three years, since he parked it after an apparent head gasket failure.

The car does not start very easily, it takes a few tries and some effort pulling UP on the gas pedal to get it going.

I've not invested much time into solving the problems with this car, but I am trying, I do not have a pile of time or money right now, but I would like to make this car road worthy soon.

You can start, drive, idle the car for any length of time, and it will not overheat, once warm, it idles great, better than others I've heard. Once you start driving, all is well until you hit around 3K RPM when the car starts bucking and loses all power. When the car is in neutral, you can run the RPM's up with no problem, and it sounds fine. The car seems to cut out right when the turbo starts boosting as well.

Any idea WHERE to begin on this? I am not big on wasting a pile of time, or throwing tons of money at things that may not be the problem. This car will get the rebuild it deserves soon enough, but for now I need to get it moving.

Any input would be great :).

Dave
