Dome Light Stays On 700 1986

My dome light is driving me crazy. One day, it simply would not go off, unless I put the switch in the center position. I have verified that each of the 4 door switchs and the tailgate switch are functioning correctly. On my first two dome lights, I ended up removing the circuit card that has the delay timer, but now that I have had to buy the third one, I am determined to make it work.

If I disconnect everything but the green power wire and the black ground wire, the light remains on. If I disconnect only the black ground wire, the light and delay timer work correctly, but only on the drivers door. Removing every door switch, so that the connections were completely open made no difference.

The wiring diagram is unclear. It shows only a black and white wire going to the door switch, and the switch body providing the ground. In fact, there is also a black wire going to the other connector on the switches.

Any thoughts?
