Rear Door Handle 700 1990

I can't open my driver side rear door from the outside, but can from the inside; about two months ago, I noticed the door handle needed a little more pressure to open than usual, but I didn't give it a lot of thought at the time. Now, I can't open it at all from the outside, I have to reach in from the driver's seat and pull the inside door lever. Once the door is open, the outside handle operates very easily with no added pressure to depress it. I looked on the 700 FAQ page and didn't see any posts that might help me narrow the problem.
Any ideas?
