gas pedal 200 1988

hi

i was recently given an 88 240 wagon, with 210k on it. for the first couple months the car seemed to run fine. lately i've noticed that when i cold-start it, no matter how hard i press the gas pedal, it acts as if it's not getting any gas. so when i start from a dead stop at a stop light, it seems to have NO get up and go, but then all of a sudden, it'll seem to 'catch' and have better pickup. it has newer fuel injectors.....

i was thinking fuel delivery? fuel pump?

someone else suggested transmission 1st gear going out, so i'm just looking for a couple opinions. i'm looking forward to getting to know this car, it's my first volvo, and i hear good things about them.

thanks,
nate.
