Best Clutch Cable ? Volvo OEM ? 200

Clutch cable on my '86 broke yesterday. Actually cable itself did not break. What broke was plastic adjustment/holding piece which is just before clutch lever. Was only 2x years old. Think it was Gemo brand. It was adjusted correctly : not too tight. In any case does anyone know if Volvo clutch cable uses metal instead of plastic ? Or another brand that uses metal instead of plastic ? I looked at 2x different independent makes today and both used plastic. Thanks.
