Firestone Alignment Tale //-----// = !!! 200

While you are not over reacting most of the people replying to this thread are. Your steering wheel was off 90 degrees, no big freakin' deal. IF the toe was set properly and the steering wheel was not centered when it was set the toe will still be correct but the wheel will not be centered, no big deal. If it is a non SRS car you just zip the steering wheel off, recenter it, and be done with it. PROVIDING THE TOE WAS SET CORRECTLY, it will remain correct, period. You will not end up with more rotations in one direction than the other. The other way to straighten it out is to put it back on the machine, set the wheel straight forward and then dial the toe in so it is about an 1/8" toed in. Typically you do not end up with the wheel 90 degrees out when you do an align but to have it be out 45 degrees is not unheard of and before we had SRS to deal with the answer to this was to shoot the steering wheel off and reposition it, no big deal.

Now the twisted or "candy caned" boots as we call them, that is an issue for sure. For the most part it indicates that you were dealing with an inept idiot at best. I would go back and raise absolute hell at that Firestone and get in touch with whomever owns or runs it. Between the twisted boots and the wheel that was off 90 degrees they need to re-do the alignment and provide you with a print out. Remember, print outs are easy to fake too. I'd love to see the morons refund you your money but good luck on that one.
