1975 engine and tranny: which goodies are included? 200 1975

Hi,

I have the opportunity to buy a complete engine and tranny unit from a 1975 245.

I'd like to clarify what exactly this unit would be composed of, as i've heard before that it was a real mine of goodies for vintage volvo owners (or converters, hehe!).

1) what is the tranny I can expect to find in the set? Is this the old M40/41 or the later 244 type (M4?)?

2) I've heard something about the bellhousing of 1975 240 series. Does it allow to mount a B23 in the vertical position with a M40/41 tranny or rather to mount a later tranny onto the B20?

3) Is the B20 the later model as found in later (74, i think) 140 series that include a crankshaft identical to the B21/23, making it the ideal candidate for a 2.3 liter B20?

Thanks for your input and happy volving! Seb
