Catalytic converter light and trouble warm starting ? 900

1992 940gl b230f auto

When my car was hot, if i attempted to re-start within 10 mins of stopping, i needed to press the gas pedal.
The catalytic converter light stays on and when I let go of the pedal the car stalls. The car also stalls when i used to put it in gear.

I had my mechanic tune the car, It starts well now (hot), but the catalytic converter light stays on until i put it in gear, then it goes away.

What exactly does that light mean and should i need to do anything about it ?

The car now runs smoothly when cold or hot, starting is not too much trouble anymore.

Thanks
David
