Vent Window Seals 444-544

I've been working on sealing the leaks around all of my windows lately, and have discovered how poorly my vent windows seal. It seems that the rubber seal is too tight around the hinges and the front corner, which prevents the rear of the window from actually closing against the seal and weatherstripping. The seals are new (from Swedish Treasures) and there's really only one way to install them, so I don't think it's an installation problem. I could trim them some (and may end up doing that) but I'm not exactly excited to try that.

I don't recall the original seals creating this problem, but then I never really looked very closely. Are all the 544/444 vent window seals like this? Was this just a common problem, or was there something wrong with the mold used to create my new seals?
