Ok, What does this connection do? (Large Tach Question) 200 1986

Installed a Large Tach in Inga this weekend and works quite well.

But there was a mystery connection on the back of the tach. Plugged the Mini Clock in the back of the Tach with the conector. But next too the Red White wire where you plug in the Tach wire was another terminal. It seemed to be labeled 12V best I could determine. But is is right next too the red white connection.

What is that supposed to connect to or be connected to?

Inquiring minds want to know.

By the way, should one really belive that at 80 MPH a Automatic 2.3L engine in a 245DL is only turning 2800 RPM on a flat surface (all surfaces here are flat)? My 3.0L DOHC Ford Taurus turns 2900 at 80 MPH (and gets about the same milage also).

Regards and Thanks for you help.
