crank position sensor 1992 740 700

After doing some more reading to help with my suspected fuel pump relay, I came across some diagnostics for the crank position sensor. Sure enough, the insulation was frayed in two spots. I checked the resistance between the center lug and one of the other lugs and got 160 ohms. I got zip between the center lug and the other lug. I got no continuity anywhere at the firewall junction. Does this sound like a bad CPS or just a poor job of diagnosing this component?
