Brake failure switch at Junction block

I've got a problem with brake failure warning light illuminated on the instrument cluster on a 1990 Volvo 240.
I have pulled all 3 parts out of the junction block and pushed the brake pedal to re-center it....according to a previous post on this site.
I even bought a new switch, MTC aftermarket brand but still the light is on.
I am doubting myself now about the order and which way the switch goes together into the junction block. Does the round plastic go in 'nub' first or flip it over? Also which way does the spring go in?
Another thing, I found a little brake fluid on the switch.
I'm Frustrated....to say the least.
