Starter motor swap 140-160 1973

Hi,

My 142's starter motor is a bit sad and I seem to remember someone posting that a 240 starter was smaller and a geared motor as well. That sounds like an upgrade worth doing. I pulled one from my parts 240 (1983, 2.3) and it looks just the same as the one from the 142. i.e. not smaller, not geared.

Can someone tell me if a) my memory is just faulty, or b) if not faulty, then what 240 should I look for, or c) should I just fit the one that I have pulled from the 240?

Regards

JohnH
