tranny & rack and pinion removal 200 1993

I would like to know how difficult is it to remove the rack and pinion from a 1993 Volvo 240. I have replaced it( a rebuilt) just six weeks before the cars was totalled in an accident. I would like to know also how difficult is it to remove the tranny. Is any specialized tools required?
Any tips or suggestions will be appreciated.
