universal oxygen sensor 200 1990

Quick question.

Looking to save a little cash.

Last time I did this I bought a direct fit sensor w/ a long lead.

The universal oxygen sensor for my car is a 3 wire unit.

It seems as though the universal unit has one black and two white wires.

Is this as simple as cut and splice, with butt conectors & shrink tube, the black and two white wires -to the old o2 sensor lead?

Can I connect the white wires any way to the remaining wires?

Thanks
