OD bypass good or bad 700

Hi everyone. I have a 92 745T that has 211K on it, over the last month I have been dealing with a progressively worse problem with the 4th gear in the car. I have flushed the tranny with the IPD flush kit to little avail. I have adjusted the kickdown cable, the shifts 1st and 2nd are relativly smooth, but 3rd is very rough and fourth only operates now when the car is stone cold. I recently ordered an IPD OD bypass plate and thought that it is quick fix to solve my lack of 4th gear. My questions stem from a recent post reply that stated the bypass of the OD Solenoid is not a good idea? I would love to know why this bypass is such bad idea. Also I would like to know why backing up with the OD button on is very bad? Thanks in advance BIGBRET
