I agree with AR, the ground gremlins run loose on the motor ground with age. Here is a simple ground fix. Run a ground wire from the chassis to motor ground to the wiper motor case. Used a 16 Guage wire and then the ground gremlins are gone. Just take off the 10mm nuts that hold the motor, add the gnd lug and connect to chassis ground. If the wiper stays up you may have to get under there and rotate the wiper 180 degees, but try this first. Easy and may solve your problems.
