95-96 Security Alarm problem 900

Hi,
I have a 95' 965 with the standard keyless/alarm entry installed and the red led isn't blinking when the car is locked with the remote. I know that the alarm works because I rolled down the window and opened the door.
when the alarm went off the red light glowed solid red until alarm was reset.
Any ideas? Could it be the alarm relay under the dash?
I checked everything else and don't know what to look for next.
I have a good mechanic but he didn't look at it the last time it was in the shop.
