Oil type for the differential? 200 1989

Automatic Transmission...I can't find a tag on the diff that indicates if it's a limited slip differential or not. It's not on the rear axle as indicated in the Bentley manual either.

Is there a way to tell if I'll need a special lubricant or should I just go with SAE 90?

Also, any cautionary tales about replacing differential oil? I thought I remember reading somewhere that it should only be changed when it's being serviced or rebuilt.
