Regina pump assy failure 700 1990

Last week the 745GL died on the interstate. In the end, I found low fuel pressure (10psi). Removed the pump assy.

It was leaking where the pipe goes into strange connector which goes between the pump oulet and the outlet pipe.
How is the pump held onto this pipe? I must have done something wrong when I re assembled it a month ago, but can't really see how this is supposed to go together.
