Engine runs backward 140-160 1972

About 500 mi ago I got the 145 back from the shop with new rings and con rods. Indie said he had a little trouble with the engine starting to run backwards but thought he had solved that problem by changing the Pertronix back to mechanical points and by installing a new ignition switch. Car ran fine up 'til now. Backed her into the garage to change snow tires out, stalled it and immediately restarted it. Result was immediate WOT and big cloud of smoke out the engine compartment. Tried it cold-same deal.. Linkage not stuck open and moves smoothly.
