Rear-end noise. 444-544

Hello guys. I've been driving my PV daily for the past week since I got it back on the road. I finally got the SUs adjusted to the point where the car drives without hesitation etc. One thing I did notice though, it took twenty flats from full lean on the mixture to achieve a satisfactory running engine/drivability. Anything less results in hesitation during acceleration. Is this normal? Also, the PCV valve is causing a very bad vacuum leak. I replaced the valve with a new one, however, it too is leaking or not seating properly internally. I verified this by disconnecting the hose and capping off the port on the intake manifold. In doing so the rpm dropped significantly. Will bypassing the pcv system...leaving the hose disconnected, hurt anything?

Next issue. When pulling away from a stop sign, I can hear/feel a dull thud and slight lag coming from the rear-end. If anyone has experienced this condition I'd appreciate any input as to what is causing the thud and lag.

Regards,

Patrick
