It lives 200 1980

The origional non start problem was that the little plastic notch on the rotor had broken off. That is why it sounded like a timing problem. So that is done. the timing belt is on and I've made progress with the water pump. I should have left it as the only thing that kept it from leaking was the corosion.
So I got the stud and extractor out of the block. Advice I got was to heat the stud and hit the extractor with a punch. It worked and I drilled out and tapped the hole to a larger size. Two problems now.
1) What is the best way to install the water pump to get the top washer to seat.
2) the tube that goes into the back of the pump is very corroded. Is this the water line to the heater? How hard is it to replace? The other option is to cut the tube and clamp on a good end.

I had it on already and it leaked out of the above and also the retapped hole. I've bought a tube of Permatex and will be using it liberaly.
