rear shock replacement 200 1991

Went to replace the rear shocks in the 240 today. Thought it would be easy except for the rusted nuts/bolts. Got the nuts off the bolt with not alot of problem. BUT, cannot figure out how to use the old upper bolt on the new shock(KYB-gas adjust KG5553) just purchased from FCP. Do i have to buy different bolts for the KYB's. Can't believe the old bolt won't fit. Or am i missing something on how to get the old bolt to fit.
