Small exhaust leak at header pipe- anyone use Permatex putty or something similar? 200

Crawled under my wife's 88 today to check out some exhaust noise. Noticed an approximately 1/8" dia hole in the header pipe (original header). I know it will need replacement before long, but I'm wondering if I could use Permatex exhaust putty or a similar high-temperature type expoxy to seal the hole and get us through the holidays. We can then start the new year off right by replacing the header pipe and the cat (also original).

As usual, any thoughts on temporary exhaust repairs are welcome. Does this putty type stuff even work?

Thanks in advance.
