Relieveing the fuel system pressure 200 1990

Whats up people, first post and i am looking for some help obviously. I am about to change the fuel filter in my 1990 240dl because I was driving on the freeway the other day and the fuel just straight cut out, nothing happens when i push the gas pedal, but everyhting else with the car is fine. I read in the chilton manual(which sucks by the way cuz its says its for my year and above but has more information picture wise for later yeared cars) that you need to relieve the fuel system pressure and in the picture it shows the guy just basically unscrewing a cap on one of the feed hoses. When i got under my car and looked around i could not find a little cap to unscrew. So i am basically wondering how one would relieve the fuel system pressure. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
