HELP! 1991 245 SE will not shift out of 2nd into 3rd! High RPMs....

Hello,

Tonight I was driving down the highway with three passengers in my 1991 245 SE at around 60 mph. Temperature around 40 degrees F. I was approaching a red light and slowing down to stop, then the light turned green, I went from brake to gas to accelerate, and the car shot up in RPMs (quite audibly since I have no tach). The car simply will not shift out of 2nd and go into 3rd, highly noticeable around 40mph.

Earlier today I had my motor oil changed with Castrol GTX 10w-30, coolant topped off, etc. All work was done perfectly, as I watched the mechanic who I personally know do the work. The work done earlier today has nothing to do with the situation, period.

I was planning on doing a transmission fluid flush tomorrow- tell me this should solve the problem without a tranny rebuild, etc.

Any advice, suggestions?

Taylor
