alloy wheel caveats? 200 1984

While cruising through the junk yard this afternoon I spotted a set of early 80's alloy wheels (the multi rib with big medallion-in-center type). The guy will let them go cheap, but I was wondering what I should look out for.

At first glance I didn't notice any obvious dents or damage other than the normal curb wear. Can they get "cracked" or anything? If needed are they repairable? What is the best way to clean them up?

Thanks,
Craig
