Poly vs Rubber - undue stress on rear driveline? 200

So I put in poly torque rod bushings this weekend, the test drive went great; even that relatively inconsequential upgrade made a big improvement.

When I was putting the passenger side torque rod back in, it didn't just drop right in, I had to pry the axle forward a few millimeters with a big screwdriver. I could be imagining things, but I think I might hear a slight difference in noise coming from the driveshaft (like it's under strain). Is the additional stiffness of the poly bushings (and perhaps their more-robust size), and my prying the axle forward a bit, going to lead to undue stress on the pinion/differential?

Then last night I started hearing a "clunk" on the drivers side; like the noise you hear when you install new rear shocks and don't tighten the upper nut all the way. It happens when accelerating from a stop.

I'm now a believer in the added handling performance of poly bushings, but at what cost?
