m46 OD problem

IF!! you can find an independent shop willing to do a rebuild, they would probably quote you for three hours labor if they have not had a bad experience removing an OD. ( It will go up if they had trouble before.) Add parts for another $70. If they find anything wrong* inside, price will jump rapidly.

A Volvo dealer will quote you somewhere in the range of $1400 for a rebuilt unit.

*Evidence of an internal part needing replacement is noise from the unit. Very simple inside, with bearings usually needing replacement if fluid levels have not been maintained. More prevelent in Turbos than other engines.

If you cannot find a Volvo Shop willing, look into a shop that works on Triumps. Same OD used with different spline and output flange configurations.
