240 still not starting 200 1990

So i explainded the other day that my car was on the freeway and the fuel just cut out, but everyhting else works fine. I went through, check and cleaned all basic parts that you have all informed me on. I cleaned the MAF sensor, IAC valve, throttle body, checked the crank sensor wire and its fully intact, fuel pump relay works, all fuses are fine and brand new.
My neighbor who is a mechanic came down this morning and figured out something is causing the fuel injectors not to fire. We went through the car and determined it has spark, fuel is being delivered to the fuel rail, so my fuel filter must not be clogged, nor is the fuel pump not bring fuel. We sprayed carb cleaner or whatever into the intake manifold and we got it to finally fire, but it was only going for like 2 seconds and then it shut off. So then he said its something with the fuel injectors causing them not to fire.
Just now i went out and hooked up a test indicator light to each of the fuel injector cables, crank it over testing them one by one and not one of them caused the light to flash or anything. I had just checked them three or so weeks ago when i put new spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, and they all made the light flash when hooked up to the test indicator. So on the back of the package it says if the light is not flashing, then the electronic fuel injections system is faulty. So has anyone experienced this, know if it is a problem with the wires itself, or maybe its a problem with the ECU, i dont know. I was also wondering if there is a relay for the injectors like there is for the fuel pump. But any help at this point is appreciated cuz i am almost to the point where i just got to take it in to the expert. thanks for all the help.
