It's only the Haynes 240 manual that is useless---the 740 manual is quite a bit better, (US black one is better than British blue one) and the 140 manual is excellent. Many of the illustrations are copied from the Green Book.

Correct fluid is important---BW 35 should have type F, NOT Dexron. Someone may have topped it up with the wrong kind. Don't know if this would cause any permanent damage.
