As has been my bi-annual experience, I just failed my VA emissions test. While in previous 2 year periods, I was able to pass with a new CAT. 2 years ago the CAT had no effect on NOx. A gas station put the 87 on its computer and found a vacuum leak (I should have found it myself by opening my eyes). 2 weeks ago I failed again after repairing a split vacuum line to the throttle body from the carbon canister. I just searched the archives and found Lucid's discussion on plugging the vacuum line controlling ignition advance. Those discussions related to a Chrysler ignition (supposedly denoted by a white distributor cap). My distributor cap is red. Does the fix still work? If so, exactly which line is to be plugged? I read all the related posts but still can't figure out which line (i.e. from where to where). Sorry for being so thick but I definitely would like to try something like this. Also, we've been runnibg high test gas all along. I have not, however tried additives. Any recent experience with octane boosters or other additives would be of interest. I'd fill the tank with additives if I thought it would get me through inspection. Any and all thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
