passing emissions test with non-stock cam? 200 1991

I'm considering either a B, A, or VX camshaft for my 244's B230F engine to give it more midrange pep so I can have more fun with its manual transmission. My car has always passed the California smog test, and though everything is in good order (working oxygen sensor, no exhaust/cat leaks, up to date on tuneups), the emission scores are usually about average.

I suppose the VX is a shoo-in or IPD wouldn't be selling it, but it's $190!

How have those who re-cammed their US redblocks fared with the smog checks? Tell me what engine and upgrade cam you have. Don't tell me about going to shady garages or swapping the tractor cam back in just for the test.
