Hello Bricksters! I wanted to upgrade my stock exhaust today on my '84 245Ti, so where did I just waste $200 bucks, Midas! When I went in my tailpipe had fallen off the muffler and I said I liked that deeper resonating sound, it sounded, "throaty" for lack of a better word, (not too loud and not like an Asian import). No problem, they could delete the rear muffler, add a resonater after the cat converter and swap the front muffler with a larger no-name "Can" muffler. Run a 2" pipe straight back to the rear of the car to increase flow. I understand iPD uses a 2-1/4" pipe on their hi-flow systems, so I'm not sure why they recommended 2" pipe? Anyway, it's quieter now than the stock set-up before I went in and I'm out $200. Please offer any suggestions as to the best setup/products for this vehicle. I like the idea of losing the rear muffler, so at least one thing was accomplished. Maybe replacing the "can" muffler with a brand name like Flowmaster or Magnaflow would do the trick? Thanks for any tips and suggestions and I think I will push for my money back!
