shaking/vibrating engine upon cold start up - normal? 200

When the engine starts the ECU is running in "Open Loop" mode, which ignores some sendors and may send more fuel than needed. After a bit of time and warming up, the ECU moves into "Closed Loop" mode.

With my earlier 240s, I was always surprised that, on starting in the AM, I could hold the gas pedal fixed and hear the engine start running smoother and pick up a few revs, even though I did nothing. Later I learned about the Open vs Closed Loop change.

Still, that is not a resaon for crappy running on start-up. Leaky injector that heats up? Do check the plugs.

Good Luck,

Bob
