De-Chroming a Volvo 200

I personally HATE chrome - seems to just cheapen the effect of it being "metal" - where do i get this logic? Hmm all the vehicles on the road usually come in two or more versions: The Base model with primary Chrome parts and then the Higher End model is almost, if not completely, devoid of any chrome.

Same case for the DL's and GL's, for the most part.

How can I remove the petty chrome parts on my DL??? Plastic and Metal
Of course I'm saying this to dodge the effort of having to strip trim parts off a 1993 GL and having to purchase a bunch of plastic mounting tabs.

Has anyone done this for the grill?
